They're synonyms.  Maybe it causes more confusion that it solves,
doing that.  I figured nobody but the internals folks would know
what pmi meant.

Says Garrick the same thing.  Maybe that's a good idea.  It's not
like Myrinet clusters dominate anymore these days, compared to when
that was the only game in town back when mpiexec was born.
