PBS PRO and mpiexec

I have noticed some strange behavior with mpiexec:

If a user's job hits its walltime there is almost never a PBS message
about the job hitting it's walltime, just the mpiexec: task terminated
with signal 15. (I'm planning on upgrading mpiexec soon, I think the
latest version prints what the signal numbers are...)

If I use mpirun and the user's job hits its walltime then there is a
message from PBS stating that is why their job was killed.  Does anyone
know why I don't get this message when using mpiexec?
